GDRN Cuts 18,000 acres from Blue Ridge WMA
Due to budget cuts, the Georgia Department of Natural Resources has reduced the size of the Blue Ridge Management Area by 18,000 acres. The area removed will now be under standard state and county (Dawson and Lumpkin) hunting guidelines as National Forest.
This is a great opportunity for hunters. These lands used to be open for deer hunting 8-10 days a year as a management area, so they have had very little hunting pressure over the years.
The newly opened area runs from Springer Mountian east to Hightower Church Road and south from F.S. road 141. (see map)
The area is located just northwest of Dahlonega off of Hwy 52.
